It’s So Nice We Don’t Have to Talk About Politics Anymore, 2013–2016

It’s So Nice We Don’t Have to Talk About Politics Anymore (2013-16) has been adapted and presented so far in three different versions, each made for the specific social contex: the Netherlands, Germany, and South Korea. In each version, a group of people perform a series of political slogans in public space.

The aim of these slogans is to tap into the fundamental, preconceived assumptions of the particular context. By repeatedly chanting these slogans in public, the established dominance of these assumed values is brought into question. The performative and repetitive aspects of the piece allow for the gradual erosion of these deeply rooted and unconscious beliefs, which typically favor the dominant social structure.
